How do I use the X-Arcade™ Tankstick with GameTap™?

GameTap ditched their awesome client software in favor of web browser-based gameplay to the distaste of many (including us). These web versions don't currently have support for in-game configuration of keyboard keys. So to use the X-Arcade with these browser games, you will need to click the Game Controls button at the top of the game window to see the default keyboard keys for the game, and then program your X-Arcade to those keys. We know this is not ideal, so please let GameTap know what an inconvenience it is by filing a case/forum post.

Programming the X-Arcade

Alternatively you can make the X-Arcade act like a windows joystick instead.

The older versions of GameTap™ had X-Arcade™ support built in, but have now moved to a browser-based system. This information is for those who may somehow be using an older client version:

Gametap X-Arcade

  1. Click the ""controls" menu.
  2. Click the "Edit Controllers" button.
  3. Click the "Assign to Players" tab.
  4. For most games under keyboard and next to player 1 choose "X-Arcade™ Left. For dual-joystick games such as Robotron™ and Karate Champ™ choose "X-Arcade™ Dual" instead.
  5. Next to player 2 choose "X-Arcade™ Right.
  6. Click " OK".

If you wish to change the controls manually, under the "Map Controls" tab choose the controller side that you want to change from the drop-down menu ("X-Arcade™ Left" for example) and double-click the button you wish to reassign. Then press the button/direction you wish it to use.

TRACKBALL SETUP: For Trackball based games follow steps 1-3 above but you must choose "Keyboard" for player 1 and player 2 to enable Trackball movement. We didn't make the rules, we just play along.
