You wanted it, you got it! The X-Arcade™ Tankstick is everything you wanted the X-Arcade™ Dual Joystick to be. It features a bigger profile, wider to fit the new trackball and provide room for those 2-player frantic fighting matches, twin pinball buttons, relocated start buttons, and the same lifetime warranty you've come to expect from the leader in home arcade gaming.
So what happens next? Keep an eye out for reviews from all over the place. And look out for the new Tankstick to hit the Machine cabinets soon.
Japan gets all the cool stuff, a three-story megacade for Sega® fans called Joypolis is one good example. It's an arcade amusement park, which includes enhanced version of some of their best arcade games and more. Thanks to GameSetWatch, we now can see a bunch of pictures of the inside.
And there is a similar arcade mecca in Orlando, Fla. known as DisneyQuest™, part of Walt Disney World's Downtown Disney® complex, with six floors featuring over 180 new and retro arcade games and 14 Disney-themed rides. Best of all one $30 ticket gets you unlimited play on the games and rides all day long.
Watch the History of Video Games... in just 40 Seconds
Ahh, there's nothing like a flashback to better times. The key word here is flash in this 40-second movie that attempts to capture the history of video games. It’s a machine gun run-through of great games of the past 25 years or so. If you are on speed this may seem slow to you, otherwise you will likely miss most of it the first run through.
Heli Attack
Apparently we missed this game, cause we never heard of it til now. But apparently it is quite popular with many, and there are even 2 sequels out already. The Heli Attack games remind me a bit of a Metal Slug™ game with fast-paced action, great weapons and great enemies. Like most of the games that catch our eyes here, this one's flash-based, free, and can be played right in your web browser.
Last month we brought you some great Geometry Wars clones for the PC, if you missed them you're really missing out. Now Sony® at the recent Tokyo Game Show 2006 has revealed their answer with the mysterious ' flOw™ game for the PS3. It's basically a glorified version of Snake where the player moves through various levels and eats what it can causing your avatar to 'gr0w'. Devouring your opposition is as simple as gliding over illuminated weak points on the foe.
But you don't have to wait for the PS3 to be released to get your hands on it, you can check out the original game that was made for PC right now. It is playable for free in your web browser, and can also be downloaded for offline play. Check out how to play, then relax and g0 with the fl0w™.
Last month we brought you more Pac-Man™ than you could play in your whole work week. Today we bring you something really special, it's PAC-XON! Perhaps it should have been called Pac-Qix since it is a kooky merge of Pac-Man with Qix. It's set on free play and can be played right in your browser. Very addictive, now get back to work!
There are lots of other great games at this linked site as well so have a look around while you're there.
New Super Mario Bros.™ for the Nintendo™ DS recently reminded us of our 2D gaming roots and more importantly also proved that side scrollers are still fun even in this world of polygons and first-person shooters. No doubt when you think of your favorite games of all time, at least for us older gamers, you likely have a few side scrolling classics in mind.
XYZ COMPUTING decided to do a 2006 perspective of the best 2D side scrollers of all time. No doubt you too will see some of your favorites in there as well.
With all this talk of making your own Xbox 360 games, it comes as great news that Game Tunnel has started a new monthly magazine featuring independent game development news. Game Tunnel says "here is a special place in our hearts for the small Independent Game developer and the passion that they put into their games.". So go grab the first copy and good luck with the new mag Game Tunnel!
You grew up with Weird Al Yankovich and video games. You have most of his songs memorized, and have seen his movie UHF too many times (my mop!). This can't be a good sign. Weird Al is back with a new song and video taunting gamers once again with White and Nerdy.
Lots of laughs in there, including the pictures of Kirk and Picard over his bed... we liked Picard. DOH!
The spanish website Marcianitos was very lucky to one of the first to get their hands on the new X-Arcade™ Tankstick for review.
"It is a considerably big, very comfortable control to play two people. Recommended!"
That's about all we could really understand from it using Google's translator which is linked below. But at least now you have a picture of a person using it to get an idea of it's size.
