The time has drawn nigh. Eager Nintendo® fans can now rejoice as the long-awaited Wii™ console is in production and finally upon us.
Critics are claiming that "everyone who' is anybody wants a Wii. stating that "XBOX™ and PS3 fanboys will even get one because they don't want to be left out when all of their friends are talking about the Wii™." The beauty is the systems return to simplicity featuring gameplay your mom and dad will enjoy.
The best news is Nintendo®'s confirmation that the Wii does indeed allow GameCube™ controller support on Virtual Console games. That means 30 great classic games to use with your X-Arcade™ on launch day!
The Wii™ is experiencing greater demand than Jessica Alba at an all-boys catholic school. Some big-boned kid has already earned notoriety for his impatience. Hit play to see the live cam at the scene.
GameVideos.com Presents: Zelda™ Retrospective
And the most anticipated game for the Wii™ console is...Zelda™. Any doubt?. Word on the street (jargon for what our nerdiest colleagues are saying) is "The Legend of Zelda™ Twilight Princess will be the biggest launch game in console history.
"
Our staff is excited to get their hands on the Princess, too!
And speaking of history, check out these great videos highlighting the memories of the best hours of gameplay from Zelda™'s past. Prepare for goosebumps (and maybe even a geek-tear or two) as you watch the first 5 episodes in the series by GameVideos.com titled "Zelda™ Retrospective".
Watch GameVideos.com for the 6th and final chapter very soon.
The Ocarina of Time in 2D
In only our 2nd newsletter back in August of 2004 we told you about Zelda™ Classic, an exact replica of the original NES game for PC with SNES graphics. Download Zelda™ right now to relive the legend.
One of the cool features mentioned is that the engine allows the development of new quests by anyone. Today over 200 quests have been made and are available for download. One quest that caught our attention is a remake of the Ocarina of Time... the 3D N64 game remade in 2D with SNES graphics...wow!
You can never have enough free games, but if you are only going to play some of them, you want to spend your time on the best ones. We feature a great site which not only lists a load of free games, but they call it "the motherload of free games. A List that contains every single free game that is worth playing".
The future is upon us and is telling us we need to get into digital downloadable content. As services like Gametap™, Steam™, and the XBOX™ Live Marketplace have proven, there is an audience for downloadable games on demand and it is growing. The new Nintendo® Wii™ and PS3 promise to expand it even more with a plethora of games available for download at launch, and as we reported recently the Phantom™ Game console Service is set to join the club. (although we suggest selling their stock short due to a complete inability to meet a single announced deadline.)
EB/Gamestop™ has wisely thrown its hat in the ring by launching its own on-demand service, available via the company websites. Prices range from $9.99 to $29.99, and with an extensive selection that leans toward casual and puzzle games. Take a look!
Everybody loves Legos and if you're reading this, you probably love video games. The only thing better than either is the combination of both. You may not have played with the real deal since you were a kid, but you may still be playing with them in the popular Lego Star Wars™ games.
But until more games are Legoized, check out Legos™ that are gamerized at Brick Flick. These guys re-create video game scenes, entirely in Legos! They even made a short trailer for Grand Theft Auto™: Lego City using stop-motion Legos.
EGM had a 2-page spread showing off the best builds, but if you missed it you can check them out here.
What started as a "cool craze" in the early 80's leading into the 90's has now become one of the most popular sources of entertainment to date, surpassing even television and movies. Read on as GameDaily compares:
You may recall that in March About.com reviewed the X-Arcade™ Trackball controller and gave it a rave review. And while they never have reviewed the X-Arcade™ controllers that we recall, we recently found it on their recent "Top 10 Computer Joysticks". The X-Arcade™ Solo made #7 and the dual X-Arcade made #8 respectively.
But wait, if you look closer you will notice that they are the only controllers on the list that are NOT flight joysticks. That means that the X-Arcade™ controllers are not only About.com's "Top 10 Computer Joysticks", but also their #1 Arcade Joysticks!
And the new X-Arcade™ Tankstick was not even out when they made that list, I wonder where it will land in the future...
Based out of Columbus, Ohio Gaming Nexus was started in 1997 to provide web readers with high quality game reviews and news on PC and console games and hardware.. They also now have a weekly radio show on a local station there.
Recently we sent them the new X-Arcade™ Tankstick for review. The image here clearly says it all, with a final review score of 9.3 they loved it! Check out the full review for the full run-down.
