Classic Arcade Game News: May 2006

Hands-On With The New Nintendo Controller

Wiimote Tech

Nintendo said the Wiimote could 'detect its exact location and orientation in 3D space' with 'pixel-perfect accuracy', but the current technology shown at E3 says otherwise. The Wiimote was disappointing at E3 by many, especially on Red Steel. Was this the final Wiimote, or a prototype? Were the Wii games running on GameCubes?

An Inside Look At How The Wiimote May Work

Classic Gaming at E3

Pac-BugWhile we were at E3 this year, we spotted lots of classic gaming goodness. Like this Volkswagen bug pimped out Pac-Man style.

But the best was hidden in the dungeons of Kentia Hall, The History of Video Games!

Wii3

Wii3Nintendo owned E3. The lines at E3 broke all E3 records, with wait times of up to 4+ hours in line!

Were the Wii games at E3 actually running on GameCubes? Could the final Wii have graphics on-par with the 360, with a CPU at 1.1Ghz rather than the 733Mhz reported?

Sony Copies Wii

Wii WannabeSony seemed to really be impressed with Nintendo's idea of motion sensing in games... so much so that they knocked it off!

That's right, the PS3 controller was revealed using accelerometers like the Wii, and also added a logo button in the center copied from the 360 controller.

Best of all they want us to pay $600 for the console!
