MTV Films and Paramount Pictures have purchased the rights to develop a major motion picture based on the video game The Wheelman, which is being developed as an adrenaline-charged action movie starring Vin Diesel as an expert wheelman who comes out of retirement to protect a woman from his past. Rich Wilkes, who worked with Diesel on XXX, is slated to write the script for the project.
Diesel also will be playing Agent 47 in the film adaptation of the Hitman video game, the best-selling video game franchise from Eidos and developer IO Interactive.. Diesel also will serve as executive producer for the film.
Diesel and Tigon Studios were behind the acclaimed movie-to-game Xbox and PC title, The Chronicles of Riddick: Escape from Butcher Bay, and if you haven't played this game yet you should be hit and run over.
Speaking of balding game-lovin' tough guy's caught in bad movies, The Rock is back from DOOM with another upcoming game-movie... Spy Hunter!
Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson may well be the video game industry's most prolific film actor. While he got his start as a wrestler in the WWE, he has gone on to big-screen stardom, most recently with the craptacular Doom movie. John Woo is directing The Rock's next film, based on the classic Spy Hunter franchise. Midway is in turn recreating the film as a game, and thus it all comes full-circle...
As the main character in the game of the movie, for the first time ever the driver gets out of the car for missions in the game all Grand Theft Auto-like.

You 80's geeks may remember the movie The Last Starfighter about a trailer park gamer seemingly doomed to stay at home all his life who finds himself recruited as a gunner for an alien defense force because of mastering The Last Starfighter video game.
Now the game that only existed in the movie is a reality thanks to Rogue Synapse which is making arcade games that never were. These guys are not only making a working replica of the arcade game used in the movie The Last Starfighter... they've got a version of the game available for free download!
Other games in addition to the Last Starfighter include the Bishop of Battle from the Nightmares movie, and the Space Paranoids game featured in the opening scenes of Tron.
