Classic Arcade Game News: June 2007
Mechatron: Awesome Robotron™ Remake!

Mechatron 2154 is a Robotron™ arcade remake by Ray Norrish with awesome new 3-D inspired visuals, new sounds, a custom level editor, and includes both offline and online high-score systems. The game plays damn-near arcade perfect because they were able to rip the actual AI from the original Robotron™ arcade ROM set!
We've been hiding this one up our sleeve for a while since every time we have wanted to mention it Ray had several great additions just around the corner. This is the definitive Robotron™ remake you've got to play!
X-Arcade™ owners will be happy to see an X-Arcade™ control preset built right into the game!

NES Playground
Just when you thought your clubhouse was the best on the block the neighbors erect this huge Nintendo-inspired playground complete with pieces of your favorite NES nostalgia.
The detail and thought that went into the creation of this funhouse is utterly
stunning. The creators are from the Carnegie Mellon University chapter of Sigma Phi Epsilon,
it was a booth put together to raise money for charity during their Spring Carnival. Xgaming's™ offices happen to be located in the CMU game design building. Hello neighbors!
Someone should tell them that NES cart won't fit in cause it's upside-down...

Pac-Man
™ Championship Edition Hits XBLA
Microsoft™ Corp. and NAMCO™ BANDAI Games™ recently made video game history by unveiling Pac-Man™ Championship Edition —featuring the first new Pac-Man™ mazes in more than 26 years! Pac-Man™ Championship Edition " is the same beloved "Pac-Man™" game played in the arcades of the '80s but is updated with new features that former "Pac-Man™" fanatics and new generations of fans alike will love. It includes new mazes that dynamically change shape during gameplay, six new timed game modes, new soundtracks and high-definition (HD) graphics.
The bad news; it is only available on the Xbox™ 360 and they're still not playing nice with 3rd-party hardware companies like us. No X-Arcade™ for you! (unless of course you don't mind buying the $80 XFPS + a $35 Wired 360 Controller = Expensive but does work) The Wii™ Virtual Console might be a better bet anyhow.

Moon Lander
And now for something completely old school from our friends at Retro Remakes, a Lunar Lander™ remake has just hit the completed pile. Moon Lander is a take on one of the gaming standards. It boasts a retro style (vintage green monochromatic low res monitor) and
23 levels with the potential for many more via a level editor. Moon Lander is well worth a play.

Dragon's Lair™ - Coming To A Theatre Near You!
The new Blu-ray release of the interactive movie/game Dragon's Lair™ confirms that a Dragon's Lair™ feature film is indeed in the works. The movie is a prequel where you'll follow Dirk from birth until he becomes a knight.
"We've had a completed script for over three years now and we've had some very positive meetings with the studios," says Goldman. "It shouldn't be done as a CG movie, it should be done as traditional animation like the original game. But traditional animation is in a sort of limbo."
Three years... who knew? The list of game movies grows again.

Gamer Cakes Galore
We've seen a few cool game inspired cakes floating around the net, so we thought it was time we showed them here. These cakes not only look so artistic, but ohh so yummy too. The more you look at them closely trying to figure out exactly what was used to make each morsel, the more your tummy starts to growl at them. We want the shrooms!

Tanknabob
Technabob features the latest news on new gadgets, games, gizmos and and other topics that might be of interest to geeks and geekettes. And what's more geeky than a 20 pound retro arcade controller called a Tankstick?
Their review is quite positive noting that the "Joystick and button responsiveness is excellent, and everything feels like the “real deal” here." - "it's about as close as you'll get to the real arcade without dropping thousands on a full-size arcade cabinet." You could drop thousands of dollars on a full-size Machine, but the wife might let you get away with it easier if you take baby steps.
