Wiiware™ Revealed!
The search for the next ingeniously ground-breaking video game has begun, and you could be making it!
Nintendo® has announced the introduction of WiiWare™, a game-creation service that will allow developers large and small to create new downloadable video game content for sale by Nintendo® through the Wii™ Shop Channel. Unlike the vintage games already being offered through the Virtual Console, these games will be built specifically for the Wii and sold via the Wii™ Shop Channel for Wii™ Points currency, much like the games being sold on Xbox™ Live Arcade and Playstation™ Network.
"Independent developers armed with small budgets and big ideas will be able to get their original games into the marketplace to see if we can find the next smash hit," says Nintendo of America President Reggie Fils-Aime. "WiiWare™ brings new levels of creativity and value to the ever-growing population of Wii own
The first WiiWare™ content will launch in early 2008.

Metroid Prime Loses a 'D'
With the new E3 just behind us and Metroid™ Prime 3: Corruption about to come home to the Wii™, we got to thinking about how much the game has changed over the years. The latest games were different than all the other Metroid™ games because when Metroid went Prime, it also went 3D. But have you ever wondered what would it have been like as a 2D sidescroller?
Well a small group of indie developers are determined to find out. The project is called Metroid™ Prime 2D, and it hopes to become a full-fledged Metroid™ Prime remake with 2D sprites. A playable demo is available for download now, and plenty of screenshots to browse through. Let's just hope they stay around long enough to finish it.

Soul Calibur™ IV Sneak Peek
Electronic Gaming Monthly managed to get an exclusive first look at the upcoming PlayStatio™n 3 and Xbox™ 360 fighter Soul Calibur™ IV, and
Destructoid™ scanned and posted the scans from the magazine, brilliant!. The level of detail in the graphics includes "leather straps on Ivy's thighs make real-time indentations into her skin as she fights," and even "ridiculously endowed ninja gal Taki, who demonstrates what happens now that consoles can chum out superflucous polygons to render realistic nipples under a skintight leotard." The way things are going Ivy should be naked by Soul Calibur™ V.
The latest issue of EGM contains a 14-page Soul Calibur™ IV spread. If you're not a subscriber, run to a newsstand and grab a copy. Until then, these pics are sure to whet your appetite.
