Nintendo® Wii™: 3D Gaming And Multimedia?Wii: What's in a Name - Conclusion.I think it's fair to say that most people hate the new name, Wii. What would make Nintendo® throw caution to the wind and release a name that refers to peeing? One guy has a theory: "Nintendo® says that the two i's represent two controllers---as in playing games together. "We"---"together"----get it? I started thinking that there might be more behind the name. After all, if the i's can be controllers, which are very revolutionary, why can't the 'W' be something also very revolutionary? Well, maybe it can." Leaked or fabricated:Is this picture of the new Revolution interface real? Is this the sound of the new interface? Kinda looks and sounds like waves... from an ocean... a blue one perhaps? Is the Revolution's Shell Controller? And what the heck is this? Conclusion: Wii™ Report, You DecideIn the newest issue of EGM (Electronic Gaming Monthly, May 2006 page 58, the "Rumor Mill" section), a new version of Mario Paint is talked about for the Revolution: "Speaking of secrets, what is Nintendo’s final promised big bomb going to be? " - GameInformer.com 4/28/06 The information contained here points to that there still being a secret yet to be revealed by Nintendo® about the Revolution that is bigger than the new controller. The compelling thing about the idea of the Revolution having 3D capability is that no other rumors are out there of anything else as big as the Revolution controller itself. If a secret this big was about something else, wouldn't you think that somebody would have at least thought of it by now? Or that an insider would have hinted at what it might be (such as happened with the controller)? Even if none of the above is true and the controller is Nintendo®'s only "Revolution", I strongly believe Nintendo® is going to change the way games are played forever. UPDATE: "I find the fact that Nintendo always goes out of its way to keep the Wii's front flap (which supposedly houses nothing but SD card bays) closed to be a little conspicuous. If it's hiding another major feature, maybe that mystery spot is somehow related. I saw some photos of this area leaked during E3, but they revealed next to nothing and the hardware cases at the exhibition may not have been representative of the final units, anyway.." - IGN Co-contributer: Clint Williams Nintendo® Execs Play with Words X-Arcade™ Gaming Gear |
